Pulse is a time-lapse film that speaks about radical acts of transformation through fire and ritual performativity. It depicts the burning to ashes of a defunct handmade beehive while a restorative soundtrack conjures the bees back to life.
In sculpture, the presence of the artist can be guessed in the form of the object, but this pre-sence remains abstract. In front of the object, we are in front of a dialogue between the artist and the material, this dialogue can last 5min as it can last 10 years.

The majority of my Sitaara’s work has been exploring her experience of growing up constantly on the move. She has moved over 34 times in 27 years, mainly around Cape Town. Her family was often evicted from their rented houses, and thus the home became a transient space of growth and trauma.
